Despite the sustained popularity of the game, the lack of attention to increase the quality of the annual installment harmed sales that were made by “NBA 2K21.” This negative impact of sales may grow with “NBA 2K22” as it’s been unable to improve the quality of the series. The game has managed to improve its graphics steadily, however this isn’t enough if there’s a lack of substance in other areas.
The biggest flaw of “NBA 2K22” is the way boring and unrealistic its gameplay is. Loading into an offline game shows the flaws of the non-player-controlled (NPC) teammates and rivals. Through the tournament, gamers can observe these NPCs running out of bounds for no reason, choose to shoot in a way that isn’t realistic, and make poor basketball choices. The efficiency of NPCs was an advantage of the series, but there hasn’t been any improvements in this field since the first half of 2010.
The absence of interest in the fundamental features has come alongside the rise of “MyTeam” in addition to “MyCareer,” two game modes in “NBA 2K22” which provide the player with an unbeatable advantage only achievable when they use greater amounts of money to make their team or player more effective. The two games are the most played and it’s difficult to compete without spending more money.
The game’s most profitable game mode, “MyTeam,” is very similar to the earlier two installments. This mode of play involves buying the “card pack” with basketball players that are concealed — players buy a “card pack” with the intention of finding an elite player, like Michael Jordan or Lebron James. This is essentially gambling and is an insult to the people who have already purchased $70 in the initial price to play the game.
