Battlefield 2042 games first impression is not special
Public Group active 3 years, 11 months agoThere are those who come with high anticipation, but not a few who come with worry, EA and DiCE’s decision to make this year’s series – Battlefield 2042 just a multiplayer game is indeed a risky decision. However, it is undeniable, considering its status as the first Battlefield series to be released for the latest generation consoles as well as several acts of showing off Frostbite Engine technology that once showed how half of the tall buildings fell because of the war, it’s hard not to build up its own hype for it. In accordance with EA’s strategy so far, it also provides an opportunity for those who pay more, the opportunity to try it out faster.
The release of a new generation means the opportunity to enjoy war on a larger scale. First of all, from our gameplay session up to level 27, we haven’t even encountered a condition where tall buildings can be partially destroyed like the Frostbite Engine demo showcased a while ago. However, the effect of destroying walls in the name of combat strategy is still available, complete with weather effects that will now appear dynamic and affect the course of the battle. But like the previous Battlefield series, a more lively war does not mean a more intense fight. Given that the size of the map is now also increasing, it is not impossible that you run more often and end up dying because of snipers who shoot you from nowhere. Routines that can be annoying considering that in Conquest mode, it can run for about 45 minutes.
The main excitement that we feel actually comes from the fact that it also supports the DualSense feature on the Playstation 5, Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Trigger. Feel how each weapon you use feels different when held, especially for machine guns, leaving a sense of immersion in itself. Moreover, the Adaptive Trigger is also not designed to be “heavy” except for the weapons that spit out single bullets, which do leave a more pronounced effect. But unfortunately, it also comes with bad news. The console version still doesn’t seem to support aim-assist, which will make it impossible for you to win against PC gamers at close range, regardless of what weapon you use. There is an option to turn off cross-play indeed, but for now, it never has enough users to make the match run.
Broadly speaking, the battles in Battlefield 2042 are still going as you might imagine. The fact that he no longer carries the class system and now comes with the Specialist concept which has the effect of specific abilities and the flexibility to use any weapon or item, it does take some getting used to. But making Battlefield 2042 automatically worse? Our experience does not fall to that conclusion. The reality that must be faced is the fact that some Specialties do have abilities that are too tempting to choose from, such as Paik for example who can check enemy positions at close range. The flexibility of the use of weapons also allows all players to carry a rocket launcher which incidentally is a nightmare for existing war vehicles.
One of the reasons we released the preview first instead of a review, other than because we haven’t tried all the available modes including Portal and Hazard Zone, the initial release of Battlefield 2042 is also still full of super annoying bugs. We’ve come across matches where we’ve been waiting in the matchmaking queue to find that we can’t spawn for no apparent reason. We also encountered a bug where after death we also couldn’t respawn, so the only solution was to leave the battle, accept the bitter pill that you won’t get any EXP even though the battle has been going on for a long time, and get stuck in matchmaking from the start. Another no less annoying bug that wants to make us scream? When for no apparent reason, all the attachments that we have installed in the weapon, suddenly don’t carry it when they enter the battle arena. You end up having to kill yourself, go to the attachment page which incidentally has been started with an unintuitive UI too.
